Waiting on a Troll

Should be in the 817 this week, thanks to my favorite shop Trinity Bicycles. One of two that I have heard about. It's going to be a good one! That's right... I'm talking about the Surly Troll. I'm going to build a commuting machine from this frame, piece by piece as funds allow. The hardest part will be waiting to finish.

  1. How are you going to address the risk of heel-pannier touchy with a short chainstay? Any thoughts on drop bars? Surly says the 260mm steerer tube leaves ample room to run a high flat stem (as opposed to some goofy 60 degree stem). Finally, what size did you get (and what size are you)?

be safe, be well, be wild.

  2. Before I'm done, I'll be purchasing a trailer. I want to ride to work AND to gigs. Will probably just use a trunk bag. Not sure yet though. I'm building it one piece at a time. Riding my Monkey for now.
